Saturday Degree Completion Program
The Saturday Liberal Studies Degree Completion Program is for students who have completed Sonoma State's junior transfer requirements. It offers working adults an alternative route to a Bachelor of Arts degree, as their schedules often do not permit them to attend regular campus classes. Course instruction is organized around one on-campus meeting for a full Saturday each month, combined with weekly online seminars and ongoing reading and writing assignments. Students stay with their cohort throughout the program as different professors guide the seminars each semester. Coursework in the program is designed to investigate current issues and to allow students to explore their own interests.
Requirements for the Major:
- LIBS 380: Identity and Society (10 units)
- LIBS 381: Technology and the Environment (10 units)
- LIBS 382: Work and the Global Future (10 units)
- LIBS 470: Senior Project—Independent Study (10 units)
General Education courses and electives may be required in addition to transfer units to complete Sonoma State University graduation requirements.
